One Year Ago Today

Today is our anniversary, of sorts.  If being one year from our first date makes it an anniversary, then, that it is!  What was I doing one year ago?  We had been playing WoW together for a few weeks, emailing and talking on the phone several times a day, and, finally, the giant leap to drive to a half-way point between Williamsburg, VA and Carrboro, NC for a coffee date of sorts.  Yes, we were bringing our computers and meeting at a small restaurant with wifi to get to know each other personally, so to speak.  I've been told I was brave to do this.  Also, that I was a bit stupid, putting myself in the hands of someone I barely knew and had really never met.  Well, it was an interesting first date, to say the least.

I got into Virginia, just a bit, when traffic slowed considerably, then came to a complete halt.  What?  Who knows. I still don't know.  But I do know that I was part of a chain reaction accident that involved 4 cars, me in the middle.  Bam!  The guy driving that last car didn't realize we were stopped and crashed right into us, pushing each car ahead into the next one.  Blah.  All I could think of was, this is our first date and now it's not going to happen.  I called Gerry, crying, and told him I had been in an accident, was unhurt, but stuck at the scene.  He immediately said he would come.  What a guy!  I ended up waiting for him in a Denny's.  I knew him as soon as he walked in and we hugged, especially nice cuz I really needed that at that point.  He took me all the way home.  Yes, to North Carolina, and stayed with me until late in the evening.  We had our first kiss that night.  Nice.  Sweet.  I felt like a teenager.  I still do!

Now, the romance continues....he wants to take me to dinner for our anniversary.  We have only known each other for a year, and it seems like we have been together forever.  Like I have said so many times, Life is Good!

So he used the old "Have your wingman crash into her & I'll come and be the hero" bit. Nice, a worthy move by a master. Score another one for the interwebs & modern love. Congratulations Penni.
