Packing for the Lan

I am pulling out all my stuff, my little bits and pieces of things I want to take, and throwing them all on my gson's bed.  I can do that cuz he isn't here.  Good thing....  cuz I would do it anyway.  All the electronic gadgets!  Very important!  Cell phone and camera.  Must have!  2 laptops.  Maybe.  At least one.  xbox 360 with all it's associated hardeware.  Hmmm, just bought a wireless headphone thingee, charging right now.  Don't know if I like it....it's one of those hook over the ear jobbies.  We shall see.  What a mess!  Games.  Oh yeh, also just bought Civ Rev.  Someone will have to show me how that works.  I don't really get it...d'oh!  Bringing my webcam, just in case.

Now, airline restriction.  I looked up what I can and can't take, and what I might have to pay extra for.  Fortunately, I bought my ticket before June 15, 2008, so I do not have to pay a shipping charge.  Man, they will get you any way they can.

1st checked bag is $15.00.  No fee if ticket was bought before above date.

2nd checked bag is $25.00, no matter what!  And over weight fees?  Glad I travel light.

One carry-on bag and one personal item allowed.

Carry-on bag = 45 linear inches (length x width x height)

Personal items include a purse, briefcase, laptop, small book-bag style backpack, or other items that do not exceed 36 linear inches (length x width x height) such as a tote bag or shoulder bag.

Other personal items, such as shampoo, creams, etc. must be travel-size (3 oz. containers or smaller) placed in a clear, plastic, one-quart ziplock bag.  This wasn't on the website, but if they are not in the original container, they must be labeled or they will toss them.  They also will not accept a different size ziplock bag.  I know this is true.......

Mood for the day...Once upon a time, when I was very young, I used to go to this under 21 dancing place called The Club in Monroe, Michigan.  This is where I became familiar with the singer, formerly known as Bobby Segur, not "Bob", and instead of $1.00 to get in, it was $2.00 on the nights he was there.  Yes, he was a local boy.  So, rock on Bobby, and a little very young Tom Cruise can't hurt, either.

those goofy regs are the part of the reason I'm becoming a pilot, not regs on luggage if you own the plane...except for weight...darn you laws of physics!!!

Not all airlines charge for the 1st bag, only the really shitty ones do. Some even charge for water and soda on the plane too now. Needless to say, i don't fly these airlines. Don't forget, if you carry on your xbox360, PS3 or Wii (which you should), you need to take it out and put it in it's own bin for going through security just like a laptop. I travel almost monthly so i'm pretty well versed in the ridiculousness of airline travel.
