shy?

There has been some talk behind the scenes about the reasons that would prevent people from attending the lan in August.

1.  Family commitments

2.  Money, ability to get time off from work

3.  Money

4.  Real Life

5.  Money

6.  Feeling "shy" about being alone with a bunch of strangers.

I want to talk about #6.  I skipped my first two lans for many of the reasons above, especially the last one.  I was told by "you know who" that it would be a wild party, and me being one of the few females there, I would be targetted for sexual abuse.  That is putting it in words that I am more comfortable with writing.   WRONG!!!  When I arrived, alone, I didn't feel like I knew anybody.  I was greeted by several people "hey, Pearly!" which amazed me.  I shook hands, hugged, and hung out with many.  Mostly I hugged, cuz I'm a hugger.  I sat at the WoW table and was made to feel very welcome.  I began to put faces to names and it was all very exciting.  I found that I "knew" a lot more people than I thought, and it was fun seeing them.  There is so much talk about the party being wild and crazy.  Well, in some ways, but not really.  People actually do game.  And there are contests and drawings.  And, all proceeds go to charity.  This is not just a drunken brawl.  It's a well planned get together of gamers for a good cause and to have fun.  I didn't want it to end, and left knowing I would be there next year.  And I got to get a very nice hug from doodi.  I told him I luved him.  Well, maybe it was the wine.....

So, if you are feeling shy, don't!  We will take care of you.  If you are female and still undecided, there are going to be quite a few gals there this year.  Think about it some more.  It is the best party you could ever go to!
