I've been a longtime fan of thinkgeek. You're right, they do have some of the coolest stuff. Got my oldest an ant farm for xmas, he hasnt used it yet as he's waiting til we get back to the States, he seems to think American Ants will be better than German ants. (He's 9 btw)

I know the feeling so I am commiserating with you. 5 years ago I was took over as the general manager of the local arm of a publicly held corp and I had over 60 employees reporting to me. When I left the company in Feb of last year (as they were entering Chap 11) I had reduced it to 14 due to the company going through staggering losses due to economic conditions. I was forced into all but 4 of these layoffs. I had to look everyone of my people in the eye over the space of 6 months and let them go knowing they had families/kids/mortgages and little chance of finding an immediate job in the near future. Talk about a tough year. I won't say that broke me as a manager, but it definitely bankrupted me as a manager in that company and I had to walk away from a high salary/perk package because I just couldnt do anymore and go through the emotions of more. Good luck in the future. Hope it turns out better for you.

Hey bossman, maybe you and the rest of the management staff can cut your 6 figure salaries by 10%. "Fuck that, how will I pay the upkeep on my Porsche? Just fire the old guy. Fuck him and his mortgage and retirement plans....".

I'd gladly take a 10% pay cut if I made anywhere near six figures. The other option was for everybody in the company to take a 25% pay cut, so fuck EVERYBODY's mortgage. @Fade that sucks. I hate to say it, but its much easier to let go of younger employees than the ones you mentioned, with families, kids and mortgages.

Great pic. Looks like I will need to research Jim Warren a little. As to your 'rant', I totally agree. I am tired of hearing of 'rights' and not responsibility. Many of the traits of individual strength and responsibility that made this country great are being relegated to the trash heap while dependence is being fostered. It brings to mind an image of a slave in manicles on his knees pleading with an overseer to "Keep me safe, I don't want to be free, feed me, clothe me, and I will be yours forever!"
