Looks like a new transcode 360 is available for Vista MCE.

Release here

Based on the original author's blog I know the development had slowed but it sounds like it's been picked up and now the 2 developers might be working together. Good news!! This is one of the things that MS is severely screwing up - support for other codecs. I can semi-understand DIVX and XVID .. but AVI? (I complained about this before - but with any luck transcode 360 will be perfectly usable and will pressure MS into hiring these guys or buying it).

Now that Apple is in the media center fray, I hope to see MS being pushed to add more codecs and other niceties that they do not have to worry about since they are more or less the only PC DVR competition (mythtv crowd i apologize for the insult).

BTW: I'm installing it now. Will report back.

EDIT: anyone know how to add a hyperlink within a blog? it's different than the forums .. I tried url and (as you can see)

To create a hyperlink just use the link creater button. Just highlight the text to use as a link, press the button, then enter the url.

I tried that but it wasn't working (at least in firefox). Thanks for the tip though. Do you know the source code for it? (i.e. ..... etc?
