Secret MCE Remote trick #1

If you'd like to launch your 360 MCE Extender into MCE directly (instead of going to the dashboard and then hitting the media center/green button) OR if you are having issues where when your 360 starts up you can't control it with the remote for a while (1-10 seconds) - try hitting "Play" twice on the remote.

For me, this seems to flush the 360 and make it respond to remote commands.

I was having issues where I couldn't start the 360 right into the extender and couldn't go through the dashboard for awhile ... I've since added "play, play" to my power on and power off macros for my remote .... assuring that I'm flushing the 360 at SOME point and it'll be ready to go next time.
