Shared on Fri, 07/15/2011 - 04:35I was just looking at the NPD charts for June game sales and was startled to see this:
01. L.A. Noire (360, PS3) Take 2 Interactive - 419,000
02. Duke Nukem Forever (360, PS3, PC) Take 2 Interactive - 376,300
03. Infamous 2 (PS3) Sony – 369,200
04. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game (Wii, 360, NDS, PS3, 3DS, PSP, PC) Disney Interactive Studios
05. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS) Nintendo - 283,200
06. Call of Duty: Black Ops (360, PS3, Wii, NDS, PC) Activision Blizzard
07. NBA 2K11 (360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP, PC) Take 2 Interactive
08. Mortal Kombat 2011 (PS3, 360) Warner Bros. Interactive
09. Cars 2 (NDS, Wii, 360, PS3, PC) Disney Interactive Studios
10. Just Dance 2 (Wii) Ubisoft
Duke Nukem outsold Infamous 2. Infamous 2 released 17 days prior and still got outsold by what is widely considered a steaming piece of crap? Even though DNF is multiplatform should this have happened? Infamous 2 is supposed to be the latest, greatest exclusive for Sony according to the drivel I read online. How does it get beaten out by DNF? According to this list the sales figures for Duke were 376,300 units. That's a piss-poor showing for a game that was a decade and a half in development, but what does that say for one of Sony's flagship titles?
Ah well, its always good to start the day off with a laugh.
In other news so far I've survived my first week back in the gym. I've made it once all the way through my routine. I work a 4 day split, divide the whole body into 4 workouts and then lift 5 days during the week with the first workout of the week being repeated on the last workout day of the week. So I have chest and triceps again today, next monday will be back and biceps and so will next Friday, etc. The soreness is going away little by little. There's a new massage place out here that only charges $38 for the first visit so yesterday morning after I worked out I went over that and got a deep tissue massage. Focused mostly on my triceps and shoulders, it helped quite a bit.
Also for shits and giggles yesterday I hopped on the scale on my way out of the gym. I'm down 7.5 lbs from a week ago, so what I'm doing is at least working a little. Most of that is probably water but its a confidence booster at least. I expect over the first 3 months to drop a bit of a weight because the workouts are fairly high intensity (for me anyway heh) before the weight loss begins to plateau. But as long as the body composition is still changing (replacing body fat with lean muscle mass) then I'll be on the right track.
