Shared on Sun, 12/09/2007 - 01:07My landlord came by earlier this evening to say hi since he was out at the building. He mentioned if I ever had any money troubles or needed him to hold a rent check to let him know.
Hmm.
So I asked if he still had December's rent. He did. I asked him if he minded holding it til next Friday. He didn't. So I then called Gamestop and yup, they had Rock Band in. So I called my kid and asked him if he minded if I checked out his present before he got to (lol, its so trashy I know...fuck it, its for both of us then!) and he didn't care, so off I went and got Rock Band. I didn't bother setting up the drums, just dove straight into solo guitar career. Some thoughts:
* Everyone who complained about them using foam instead of springs for the strummer was spot-on right. Its trash. I made it through easy career 5-starring almost everything (actually got 100% on most of them) but had to ditch that guitar midway through the second set on medium cause it just wasn't getting it done. I plugged in the GH2 guitar and fared much better.
* The songs are much better in RB than in GH3. There's some stinkers for sure (Fallout Boy and the Strokes? Keep'em, thanks) but even the meh songs are interesting to play due to how the notes are arranged. And there are no sets where its a complete loss, where I can't stand ANY of the songs like in GH3. There's usually 1 or 2 I'm not too excited about in each set, I play those first to get them out of the way, and then move on to the good stuff.
* How many damn sets are there? I got to London finally and still no Run to the Hills. Dammit, why does it have to be in the last set?
I can't wait to do some multiplayer on it, should be fun. I might bust out the mic for shits and giggles. I can't sing to save my life, but on those karaoke games on the OldBox I used to do ok just finding the pitch and staying close as possible to what was acceptable.
