To trade or not to trade

That is the question.  I hate trading in games.  I wound up with over 140 titles for the XBox at one point.  I had a decent 360 library going, and while I still remain in the high teens title-wise, I've had to trade stuff in because things are pretty tight financially.

So my latest dilemma revolves around either Stranglehold or Two Worlds.  I'd love to get BioShock, but I'm a giant pussy when it comes to games like that and would probably play sporadically at best, so its better if I just hold off on that one for now.

Now, the one title I have of decent trade value is Madden 08.  Yes, it just came out.  Yes, I traded in a few other games to get it.  And yes, I'm hating it more as each day passes.  I don't play it online, its single player franchise for me.  In the years when the mode was done right, it could occupy my time for months.  When its not done right...when things are broken, omitted, or just act poorly...then I get bored with it quickly.  Thats the case with Madden 08.  So on one hand I really want to keep at it and see if I can find the love for it, but on the other hand Two Worlds and Stranglehold interest me a lot.  I'd probably lean towards TW since I'm an RPG nut, but I need to read some reviews on it before getting it.  I've seen some posts talking about negatives in the PC version and I want to make sure the 360 version is cleaned up.  On the other hand Stranglehold seems like a Max Payne-esque action game that I would enjoy...but for how long?

So I sit and ponder the fate of my games...to trade, or not to trade?

Man up and get Bioshock ... you pussy. if you trade games in that are old, wait until GS/EB have some deals going on. Like sometimes they'll do, get an extra 20% if you trade in games towards a certain pre-order. Nothing says you need to pick the pre-order up and can simply use that credit towards a different game. I do that a lot. Also they have deals where you trade in 3 and get an extra 20%. You just have to watch the deals going on, sign up for their newsletter, it's got the inside scoop on those deals. Your other option is to ebay them. But i argue that by the time you spend the time, pay the fees and actually have the money in hand, it's just easier to go to gamestop. I had about 20 games when i got rid of my xbox. I decided i wasn't going to do that this generation. So I do two different things. If a game still has at least a $30 value or there's a trade in deal going, i'll trade it in for store credit when i'm done with it. If it's a game i'v ehad for a while, i'll trade it here for another older game that I wanted to play but never got around to it. Like i just traded for Call of Jaurez and N3. Straight up game for game trades is the cheapest way to get a new game. As for your delema, TW or Stranglehold... I played the demo of TW for PC and the demo for Strangle on xbox. I liked strangle better. But if you're looking for a game with longevity, TW is probably your better choice. Plus it has multiplayer, can't go wrong with that. I know there's decent following for TW here at 2o2p, you shouldn't have any problems finding a party of 2o2p people to have fun in the forest with :)

I was in the same boat, I kept getting screwed over because I would buy a game, hate it and then go trade it in for 1/4 or less than I just paid for it. The final straw was the last Splinter Cell game, I played through it and got tired of it. It was only about 3 weeks old and I took it to trade it in, I had just paid $60+tax for it. They offered me $13 trade in for it!! I said "no thanks" and went home and signed up for Gamefly and I love it..it's the way to go if you are a game junkie like me. Now I play every singe new game that comes out. If I don't like it I send it right back and get another one. If there's a game I must have I just buy it from them and they are usually $15 cheaper than at the stores... Just a suggestion. 8)

Ya,renting is the way to go especially if it's a game you're not sure you're going to love. Problem with rental services is you can't always get the latest game. Like Bioshock, the chances are pretty slim you're getting that when it comes out. It was probably on everyone's Queue to rent and at the top. So for big blockbuster games, rental services suck but if you don't mind playing them later, it's well worth the 23 bucks or whatever it is per month instead of buying them.

I'll be getting Gamefly for sure in the future, if my promotion ever materializes. I appreciate the feedback on their services, good to know you guys like it.
