Shared on Wed, 10/19/2011 - 12:08Made it through the leg workout today without crippling myself, so as the subject says...YAY!
I eliminated the presses with my feet pointed outward. That's done to hit the inner part of the quad which is traditionally weaker, and the more I think about it the more I think that this is what caused my issue. I'm not using crazy heavy weight for it but I was using the same amount of weight I was using for my standard presses, and I think I overdid it and the tear was a result of that. The good news is this amounted to basically a warning shot, I was still able to walk and didn't (or at least haven't so far) require any medical attention.
I'm still going ahead with my current plan of taking weekends off entirely to rest my legs. I think the next 2 weekends for sure and then I'll re-evaluate everything. If I'm feeling stronger (or more courageous) after that I'll do Saturday cardio sessions and rest on Sundays regardless. I think at that point I'll re-introduce the second set of presses but reduce the weight I use by quite a bit to build the quad up in the area I'm trying to hit.
