Well, I didn't do much today except go to this writers meeting. There were two new members there tonight. They read my stuff and at least one of the new members (as well as the old members) wants to see more of my stuff. I told them all it was my last physical meeting cause I was going to try and go back to school. Honestly, I am still considering Full Sail for their Creative Writing for Entertainment program which gives a bachelors in fine arts. True, it's a LOT of money, and I know that having a degree won't necessarily make me a better writer, but through this course, I'd be getting 32 classes as opposed to three with University of Phoenix that I've talked to so far. I'm not even sure yet what University of Phoenix would charge me for those three classes yet, they're supposed to be calling me this afternoon though so I'll know then.

Anyway, one of the Ink Slinger members, the one who is part of the writing team with her spouse (they work as one writer and are the only team there) challenged me to go ahead and edit and repost the chapters they've already gone over (three chapters) then continue on the others. So, I may do that since one of the new members tonight wanted to see where it was going to go. I think one of the reasons I was wanting to 'get out' of going to the meetings, even if I stay a member of ink slingers online is because the writing team was critiquing pretty harshly - no, I don't really have a soft skin, its just that they'd tell me not to use the elipses because I wasn't using it right, and then I'd read their chapters and find that they are using it the same way I was, so it didn't make any sense to me. I also feel bad that I have to have a reader because I have such a hard time reading. Words tend to float around out me and I lose my place a lot more than anyone else so it takes me a long time to read something to myself, much less aloud like we were doing at the meetings.

Elipses and semi colons usually give me the most trouble as far as when to use them. I mostly go by looks...if it looks right, then I stick with it. But bad punctuation can mess up written work; even still, if they get too critical tell'em to get bent. :)

LOL I try to clean something up as much as I can, but that's also what an editor is for, and when you send to a big publishing company, you usually get an editor along with it.
