Not much today...

Didn't do too much today.. the dog trainer came today, not yesterday. Then I slept some more. Got up and took Charlie for a walk, PA went to his doctor appointment today and didn't get back till 4 which was unusual for the chiropractor, but said they were testing a new system thanks to Obama. One of my friends came over and watched Once Upon and Time and Disney's Prep and Landing. Then PA and I went to the store. Other than that, been on SodaHead.com all day trying to catch up on my inbox questions. Was almost at 300 today when I got up and now got it cut down by about a hundred. I also found the two seasons of the Original Thundercats online.

One other thing I did today was look into going back to school again. I found Full Sail University has a bacherlors and masters degree in creative writing. I may stick to the batcherlors because it will be hard enough. It's so EXPENSIVE too! Total tution cost for the creative writing batchlors degree would be $57,000. I am not sure if I can go if I don't get the whole thing covered by financial aide, my Long Ridge Writers Group credits don't transfer or I can't get a scholorship. Not with PA going back to school as well. Will have to wait and see what they say.

That is pretty expensive for a bachelor's degree. That is what I am paying for one of my masters at a top business school in the country. I would check out all my options at that price...I would think you could go to a top flight school for something resembling that price.

I'm pretty sure I don't want to go to UNM, the local college here... My sister went there in the '90s, and was taking Creative Writing, and the instructors would tear up her papers. She quit writing all together for a long time.

i would look into going to a not-for-profit school. many of these for profit-institutions are only accredited by trade school standards and many other colleges don't accept their credits if you ever wish to transfer. Not only that but many of these schools have deals with lenders and will set you up with lenders at higher loan rates to cover their exorbitant prices. Not to mention many community colleges are ranked higher in educational standards than many of these schools. I would definitely do thorough research on any for-profit school before I even thought about attending one....not to mention I am leery of any school that accepts applicants only by the order in which they applied. For example, an online school has 2000 spots open for a semester, the first 2000 to apply get in. All that is required is a diploma or a GED. Good or bad grades or scores on the GED don't factor. These qualifications are usually a good indicator if the student has the aptitude to complete the courses required for graduation. Being accepted or denied entry to a normal college is for the benefit of the institution (they get a better student) and also for the student (they don't commit themselves and their money to a venture they will probably fail. With a for-profit institution, you are taking a huge risk with very little reward. Yes, you will have the ability to add a bachelors to your resume, but many companies will not recognize the validity of the degree because they don't recognize the authority of the institution. Also, having a degree is not required for you to be an author, nor will it necessarily make you a better one.

I think I may LOOK at UNM, but if those instructors my sister had are still there, I have no intention of going there. I did go to school at Long Ridge Writers Group where all the teachers are previously published authors. I believe I got in there thanks to Tolkien Estates and my own aptitude. However, I still have a lot to learn, my main hang ups in grammar are the comma, and the semi colon. I realize a degree won't necessarily make me a better author, but it might help. I'm not ALL that thrilled about the prospect of going to school again. Since going to Long Ridge, I have also gone through Grand Canyon University. Perhaps 'through' isn't the proper term there since I didn't make it to the end of my first class there.
