Stupid Cell Phone

You know, I really hate when people think something is cool, and it doesn't work worth a crap, like touch screen phones. I have a Motorola Droid with Verizon, and not only does the phone suck, but right now so does the service. Anytime I am on a call and my cheek touches the phone, the damned thing thinks I'm trying to dial out and drops the call I'm on. Sometimes the connection's still there but the other person can't hear me, some time the call's dropped and it says I still have a connection, and sometimes the calls are dropped all together. Even when I have three bars. I've taken the phone in and they say there's nothing wrong with it. They 'fixed' my reception so I shouldn't have issues with dropped calls, but I still do. They said the service issue was because they are upgrading their cell towers from 3G to 4G and said it would take two weeks. That was, of course, more than two weeks ago and I'm still having issues. Had a call today from a collage and the call was muted or something - I look and its never actually muted - because the guy couldn't hear me even though the connection was still there. The only option I have then is to just hang up. The same thing happened with my sister later. I was talking to her and suddenly she wasn't there though the phone was still timing the call like I was connected. I hung up and tried calling back and the thing said it was connected but I never even got a dial tone, dialing or ringing - that happened like four times in a row before I got through to her voice mail.

Other than that, not done a whole lot today, took Charlie in this morning at 7am for his dental appointment. Learned his teeth were discolored but solid, so they didn't have to pull any, but they said he was missing some in the back as well. They said he did really well, and he can return to normal activities tomorrow. Aside from getting him home from the vet, I worked on two chapters of a Harry Potter fan story called Year of the Dragon, doing some editing, and I've been watching the first two films in the X-Men series so that I can watch the third that a friend lent me. I've also played some of Ashtaria on Facebook. Its a game I haven't played in a while but am on the beta testing team.

Touch screens are the debbil. Pocket dialing is embarrassing, and I do it enough thats for sure. Just out of curiousity did you buy your phone or did it come "free" with your service? I have a Windows phone, and while I like the features I opted to take the free Samsung version of their phone instead of dropping a few hundred on a snazzier model. This was at the end of May. I'm on my 4th phone now, 3 replacements to the original. I still haven't paid a dime for it (I can be...persuasive) but I truly am getting what I pay for. I don't think thats a coincidence.

I think our droids (the first ones) were like $100 with our mail in rebate when we signed up with Verizon. When I took it in to get looked at and the guy adjusted the signal strength, he said it was the best looking refurbished phone he'd seen; he jinxed me. That weekend when we got Charlie, I was at PA's folks house and went to fish it out of my pocket to take a picture of Charlie and the damned thing hit the concrete and cracked the screen and scuffed up the rest of it. Everything still 'works' though, but I know what you mean about the dialing... it's called my mom at 3 am when I was clear across the room from it, and I don't have voice dialing.
