Shared on Mon, 01/07/2008 - 22:26Man, it's been a long time since my last blog (9/13), and I was sitting here watching LSU/Ohio State and keeping an eye on severe weather in my area when I figured what the heck??...here's a review of the games I got this Christmas...
So, Christmas was good to me, getting gifts of COD4, Rock Band, Guitar Hero 3, and Scene It? from various family members. Some day, maybe I'll try Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect, but for now, I'm busy with COD4.
COD4 is as good as I expected, except for the fact that since I'm joining the game so late after release, there are so many players with a higher rank and are much better than I, that it's hard to catch up to them. My K/D ratio is not that good right now, but hopefully that will change soon. I think I'm a little better at Halo3 than COD4 in terms of multiplayer, and I'm determined to finish COD4 on Veteran though I'm stuck at the end of one mission right now. I can't seem to get through no matter how many times I try. One day, I'll get it. For sure though, COD4 is AWESOME and the realistic weapons you get to wield are unbelieveable!!...and multiplayer is a lot more fun than Halo3. Some day I'll get back to finishing Gears achievements, I hope...
Rock Band is a lot of fun too! It's fun and a little challenging all at the same time. The tough part is that I'm a drummer by hobby (though some of my closest friends have told me I could go pro if I committed to it), and I've been playing since 6th grade. Problem is that when I play the drum part on Rock Band, I get off the beat sometimes!! Ahhhh!!! See, if you are not like a metronome in the game and have perfect timing you'll miss a note. The real drums are a little more forgiving when you play. Maybe it's because I don't know all of the songs, or maybe it's simply that on easy and medium, there is so much to the drum part that they take out in order to make them easy/medium, it throws me off. I guess it's just bringing out some of my drumming weaknesses, but nevertheless this game is awesome too!! Playing online with friends is somewhat unique but it works.
Guitar Hero 3 was a surprise, I didn't really want it, but my bro got it for me, then selfishly admitted that now he can play online co-op with me (in addition to Rock Band). It's more of GH2, so it's fun as well. The bigger surprise is that out of nowhere my wife decided to try GH3 (even after trying GH2 in the past and not liking it). Lo and behold, she likes it and she's getting good at it!! So now, she finally plays Xbox with me, on GH3, Rock Band, and Scene It?
Speaking of Scene It?...that's an OK game. It's a good family get together game, the achievements are easy, and overall if you like any type of trivia games, you'll like this for sure!
So, that's my update/review of the games I got for Christmas, and yes I know it's a little late, but what can I say, I've been busy playing!!
