Beach Vacation Drinking

We are currently down in Corolla, NC, living it up as best we can in this "Summer of Recovery." So when my father and I get together we tend to attempt to clean out as much of his drinkable wines as we can. Not to mention as many beers as humanly possible. Our first night was filled with pizza, some wine and some beers. Prior to dinner we drank some Blue Moon Pale Ale, which was pretty good. I had their Belgian White, which im not a fan of. The wine was a rose', called Yin Yang, fairly dry with a nice hint of fruit. We followed it up with a 90+ point wine called Atalya from Spain. It was pretty good, and once it openned up my father and I killed it with the displeasure of my wife and mother-in-law. (They wanted some more as well). We ended the evening with some good politcal commentary, which prompted is to open "Persia" I don't have much recollection of the bottle, but when we hit the other bottle later this week, I will post a picture.

Politics leads to drinking, and too much political drinking leads to vomitting. I hadn't yakked in quite a while, and I'm pretty thankful I did, as I'm sure I would have been wrecked the following day. Losing my cookies over the side rail at 1am meant that I prevented a nice mess inside the house. Unfortunately, the stairs on the side of the house were now covered in pinkish red goodness. Being pitch black I poured about 10 pitchers of water over the side of the balcony, thinking I was safe. Fast Forward to 630am, and I look outside, and it looked as though someone had been shot and bled to death. This prompted me to get out the house and sponge. Half way through, my brother in law TMX comes back from a walk on the beach with his wife yelling, SHAME SHAME KNOW YOUR NAME. (Nice Goonies reference). Overall, a successful good first day.

DAY 2

Great days at the pool and the beach. No hellish driving, and lots of good Spirits.

A typical Belgian Beer (white)

Not my favorite, but drinkable. It had a rounded dull finish, was light and fruity.

For Dinner

Schwarz Wise Company, 2008 Granache, Barossa Valley

I liked this a lot.

Hints of Blueberries, and Blackberries, full bodied and a nice finish.

Drink this now, don't save it.

Lazy evening as it thundered and stormed, most people were worn out early.

Tomorrow, cuban pork and Seasmoke.

Dug into a Brooklyn variety pack over the weekend. Me likey. Their Local series is on my must try list. I also like Saison Dupont. Altho I think it's pretty mellow for a saison. It doesn't seem to have as much spicy, peppery, or "wild" flavors as some farmhouse ales.
