2008 Summer Olympics

The '08 Summer Olympics are finally here! I know this is a few days late, but it's the thought that counts right? I know I can't be alone in anxiously waiting for the Olympic games to start every four years, and then saddened when they end around 17 days later! Did anyone else watch the opening ceremony? That was crazy and unreal! Well yeah, for $300 million it better be spectacular, but wow!

So how many of you watched the Olympics as a child and dreamt of winning a gold medal in the sport or sports of your choice? Probably everyone, right? I always wished I could compete and win gold medals in swimming, kind of like how Michael Phelps is dominating. Too bad I didn't get the atheltic ability or the size to compete at this elite level. (Well, I'm lazy too...lol) But if it was possible, why not go for it right?

Soooo...Phelps won gold in the 400 IM in WR time (Ryan Lochte won bronze iirc), Katie Hoff won bronze in the 400 IM, women won silver in the 4x100 freestyle relay, women swept the medals in the individual saber event....Hopefully the mens basketball team can take the gold home this time eh? I know I've left out at least some, but it's 5:15am so the brain isn't all there...is it ever though? Lol.

How about Dara Torres eh? You go girl! 41 years old and she's doing as well as or better than women half her age! Freaking amazing! I wonder if Phreaks is going to try and find her training regimen or use Dara as inspiration to improve her cougar hunting skills. Just kidding! ;)

Also, my prayers and condolences go out to the men's volleyball coach's father and mother in law and their families for their loss.  Definitely a tragedy in what is supposed to be happy and peaceful times.
