One hell of a week

It's been a while since I have made an entry, but this week has been too odd to not write about today.

Everything begins on Tuesday when our marketing department decided to take a day off without anyone knowing. Bad day to make that choice as one of my company's radio partners needed a billboard tagline for their score updates to be provided by us. Now I'm the radio producer for us, but that really is a fancy way of just lining up guests right now. I leave the taglines to the guys that are paid to make them up. But since my boss, Peter, needed it done ASAP, me and our head designer put together the line and make a prize pack for the shows we're sponsoring. Not our job, but it needed to get finished. The result was a little good pub for me and a verbal beat down for the marketing guys.

Come Wednesday, I'm feeling good about coming to the office to write some shit for the website. However, Peter wanted to talk to me about some things happening in the office. It seems that during an employee's wedding on Saturday, someone decided to make a full blown ass of himself during the reception. The confirmed story was that our customer service guy had too many to drink and was about to throw down with the DJ. I should also mention that he got into some verbal fisticuffs with my friend's date while he drove him back to his truck.

Our customer service guy is a nice enough guy, but is very conservative and opinionated, but not in a good way. His way of winning an argument is to just yell his answers and belittle you in the process. I say that because he did it everyday to me personally calling me a liberal as if it were a bad thing. So Peter brought me into his office to ask if he'd been rough to me in any way and I told him that he had and how I felt. As much as I didn't want to point a finger, it was the right thing to do.

The outcome of the meeting was our customer service guy would be talked to and put on double secret probation. Peter later told me he was desperately trying to find out who told on him so he could "apologize," but Peter explained that was taken care of already. Just for the record, I was not the one to throw him under the bus. Although, I wanted to do so many times before this most recent incident.

I came into my office yesterday telling my buddy, Chris, that I didn't know what could possibly happen today that would be as strange as the past two days. About an hour after asking him that question, I received a call from my wife sobbing. "Bruiser's dead!!! She killed him!!! She killed him!!!" was all that I could understand, but made me run out of the office almost instantly.

Bru is a tiny guy, weighing in at three pounds, and always plays with Pixie, who is about three times his size. My wife found him underneath Pix with her licking him trying to wake the little guy. By all accounts from Cybelle was the he was gone, but she went into performing doggy CPR by rubbing his chest and blowing into his nose. Most of this was happening while I made my way home on the turnpike just praying that he would pull through.

I finally reached the house and saw Pixie, who my wife would almost certainly make me give up for adoption if she had been the culprit to this happening. I turn to see my wife holding Bruiser in his favorite blanket, alive and well, if not a little wobbly after the fact. It turns out that he is hypoglycemic, which means he has low blood sugar. One of the side effects of his condition is the possibility to black out with little to no warning. Now, I'm not sure if there is medication for him as I've not spoken to my wife since she took Bru to the vet today, but I'm sure he'll be on something. I'm just happy to know that my boy is safe and sound.

So far nothing has happened today, but the day is still young.

Thanks for listening!

I think she was trying to wake him, too. But my wife was thinking it was Pixie's fault during the heat of the moment.
