500!

I accomplished the feat of solving the first 500 deals on freecell.  It took me over 2 years, becuase I did them at lunch.  The hardest of the 401-500 set was number 476.  You need 8's, Q's, K's, 10's, 9's, 4's and 7's.  But you have to "thread the needle" meaning the game warns you at some point that you have filled all of your cells and have exactly one move.  It was a toughie.

I keep a spreadsheet with the numbers 1-700.  If I haven't attempted the deal, it's white.  If I failed, I put it in yellow.  If I pass, I put the number in green.  At the top, I have # such-and-such is impossible.  It's like 11 thousand and something.  I probably will not maintain my scores all that way into the future (echo: 'future..future....)

Game 11982 is the only impossible deal in the positive-numbered games. I think the negatives are joke deals. I'm not even sure 11982 is proven to be impossible, it's just understood as impossible. I guess proving one game of freecell as impossible isn't too important when compared to protein-folding and such.

Games -1 and -2 are pretty impossible as well.
