Shared on Thu, 10/18/2007 - 08:06E4 differs from E3 in one key way: there are no "lives." The game is easier, in fact, MUCH easier. When you blow up certain colors of enemies, they drop bonuses and power ups.
- Blue = Multiplier Extend (diamond)
- White = Shield Extend (broken square)
- Yellow = Time Extend (clock symbol)
- Red = Quicken (">>" symbol, increases speed of scoring)
The score is ridiculously high in the billions just after you've started. Aside from trying to blow up as much stuff as possible, you should collect Yellow Time Extends as much as possible. Each is worth 5 seconds, so the more you can grab, the better. To aid you in this, the Shield extends will give you enough time to collect all of the Clocks safely. Your next focus should be Quickens if you do not have a full quicken bar. The multipliers should be continuously collected, but not at the expense of time.
When you die, you lose all multipliers and quickens, and the enemies become sparse and slow. When you have a lot of quickens, the shield extends stop coming out. Even thought there are no lives, you will take a major hit on time everytime you crash.
The game also has "I Can Haz Cheezburger" type grammar for your own music in "Wiz Ur Muzik" mode. The awkward part of the game is that you must beat-map every song you wish to use with the game. Then, if you play from your system, pick a song that is beatmapped and it will play in time with the beat. Playing non-beatmapped music will simply chose a default 4/4 beat.
Finally there is Revenge, where you can take the buggers out directly with bullets. I was playing this part of the game while lightly asleep, so the main battles are easy. However, the bosses require attention.
The extra modes really justify the purchase of this game. I personally liked the backgrounds on PSP better, but I have that game, too!
