I guess membership has it's priveleges!  I joined the ECA way back at inception, and I have the card to prove it.  They have several sponsored give-aways, and I won one.  In fact, it was worth more than the membership cost.  First, they gave me the "membership pack" which is the DVD "Gamers," and an ECA pen and pad.  I also got G4 T-shirt and hat as well as two other T-shirts.  I also received a series of Gitaroo Man Lives! mini-buttons, which are oddly cool.  To top it off, I got FIFA 07 for the PC and City of Villians Collector's set (with a figurine).

Yeah, it was mostly fluff except for the FIFA.  It shows, however, that The ECA/Game Politics has a lot of corporate sponsorship.  That's good, too.  It was pointed out (during "Ask Hal Halpin Anything" on GP) that the consumer needs very closely match the ESA needs.

For everyone else in the ECA, if you haven't got a membership pack yet, you're still in the running for the PS3.  At least, I think I'm now disqualified from other intro-member drawings.

As for the ECA, it's still in "startup" mode.  The web site is slowly getting more content.  Game Politics is being supported most of all, which is great!  GP had a momentum already, the ECA bought it, and were committed to keep GP going strong.  The membership cards and kits are being sent out.  The daily newsletter is getting out there.  All is good so far!

CofC: You're too funny! I'm guessing you were being sarcastic, but the ECA is the Entertainment Comsumers Association. It is an advocacy group for Gamers. Although the main purpose right now is to oppose unconstitutional laws that try to prevent us from parenting our own kids. www.theeca.com Membership is $20, so it's a fairly expensive pen. :o
