A good television show or movie hooks you in by hitting you with an unanswered question that becomes the main plot. Good games are similar. The do this by either giving us a "Wow" environment, like Katamari Damacy, or a "Wow" event like the takeover by an evil overlord. Wii's Legend of Zelda does neither. I think they're testing my resolve to play this game. Let me give you a sample of the first things you do (day 1 and 2):

  1. Find Epona
  2. Ride Epona
  3. Go to village--where everything is closed, BTW
  4. Herd goats. No, really. Herd goats.
  5. Jump the fence w/Epona and go home.
  6. Go to sleep.
  7. Wake up.
  8. Try to ride Epona and this annoying kid won't let you.
  9. Go back to village--where everything is still closed
  10. You need a slingshot, but the owner wants her cat.
  11. That damned cat can't be caught, so it looks like I'll need a fishing pole but they won't give me the fishing pole and I can't knock down the beehive without the slingshot.

So, in other words, it is so mundane, it is boring. You also don't need to have the motion features of the controllers, they just sort of added that. I'm sure the game will get better, but damn!

Sounds like Zelda alright! The best one is still on the SNES, if you ask me.

You have not even scratched the surface. I thought it was boring as well, but honestly you have not even seen the actual game yet. I know this part sucks, but once you actually make it into the game you will be shocked. The plot will not even begin to unfold until you leave the village for good. So stick with it! A couple more mundane tasks and Zelda will finally begin.
