Fortunately, it's fantastic. The demo is the same level the E3 footage showed. Lard Lad, the "Big Boy" with the donut, is terrorizing downtown Springfield. Homer and Bart have to stop Lard Lad before it kills them. Meanwhile, there are Killer Krusty the Klown's getting in your way and trying to kill you. Lard Lad shoots powerful laserbeams, too. Navigate the crumbling downtown and disabling the Lad are your goals. Subgoals are to collect Duff and Krusty icons, and reveal all 3 videogame cliches with Comic Book Shop Guy.
Bart's powers are slingshot, high-jumping, Bartman, and Robo-bart. There are probably a few more in the full game. Homer's powers are gas and alcohol. He can breath fire with that combination as well as inflate his body and shoot himself around. The humor continues with "color commentary" from Kent Brockman who is pretty much routing for the murderous Lard Lad. The humor of each character, friend or foe, is in the utter complete characterization within the game. The videogame cliche's are so hilarious, I can't spoil them here. Play the demo!
I'm happy to say that The Simpsons Game is not an episode-themed or movie-themed game. It is self-proclaimed "new episodes" to play. The demo makes me want this game more than ever, because it's fun and hilarious. Hint to game publishers, if you release a demo, make it so that I want more, just like The Simpsons Game.
