There Is No Pong In Scripture

Once again, the Pope, who is in an undeservedly powerful political position, issued a very negative position on violence and sexual content in video games (courtesy of Gamepolitics.com). At least he reminds parents to be mindful of their children. Okay, Mr. Pope--can I call you Benny? Videogames are not real. They are interactive fantasy. Since when do we treat fantasy as if it were tangible? No, I'm not talking Second Life, even though I sense a major exodus from the virtual world (which would make Second Life fun again) very soon. That problem will correct itself.

There are a few words we use to describe people that believe fantasy and/or other fake things are real:

CHILDISH: Children have trouble separating fantasy from reality because they start almost as a clean slate. That's okay, it's normal. For children, not adults.

DELUSIONAL: For some reason, the fantasy has a real aspect to you and only you. The rest of us are not expecting the CG guns to work like real ones.

IGNORANT: You lack the information to represent the issue coherently.

SELF-SERVING CONTROL FREAK: You have to be this to be Pope, or you're in the wrong position.

Well, that pretty much covers it, that is, without the name calling. It really kind of shows that the Pope is not all there and not as smart or experienced as he should be. This is not a religious topic at all, so Benny should stick to picking out designer gowns and shoes.
