Upon looking over the weekend ads, I realized that if the Wii appears in the ad as "on sale" (read: "for sale"). Many states (or is it a federal reg?) require your stores have a minimum number of consoles on-hand. So, as soon as Best Buy and Circuit city decided the Wii would be in the weekly ad, they were forced to hold every system for about a month--which may have only be 2 or 3 systems. Even though it sounds like retailer abuse, it is actually consumer protection acts and such that forced them into it. Though Christmas is still a recent memory, the gift giving in Valentine's and Easter, as well as the Christmas promises, will probably keep this going until May.
