Why Chromehounds

Chromcrack...

That is what it is called.

I keep getting messages about how I "just" play this game and blah blah blah.

I have to tell you guys, why do you think so many of us are playing the hell out of this?? Because it is FUN!!!!!!

Here is my take on the difference on this and other games and why I like it so much.

To start, I love mechanical stuff. I build rock crawlers, Nitro RC cars, drag cars, anything with a motor I dig it.
Second, I like destroying shit.
Third, I like learning.
Fourth I LOVE my Old Man Mafia Family.

This game has taken all of these things and brought them together for me.  No longer am I running around a map and getting sniped from a hidden assassin OVER AND OVER AND OVER. No longer does one person come into a room and dominate everything and ruin the game play. No longer does a combo weapon kill me in one shot. No longer am I spawn owned.

Chromhounds takes all that out of it by evening the paying field, Your mech does not die from on sniper shot. You can be getting your ass kicked and turn it around and win the fight. Playing with the squad requires TEAMWORK, their are no STARS. We work as a team. Going to the lobby and helping your teammates build a stronger faster Hound, giving parts away to them so they are up to par with you, all part of the game.

I jumped into COD last night and just did not enjoy it. It was capture the flag; the opposing team had snipers on two buildings popping us from our spawn point. The also were just lobbing in grenade after grenade after grenade, I couldn’t move, just kind of die.  Then another game, we had one team fighting and one team sniping, they were for the most part, on rooftops and covering the area. Yah, you have the kill cam.  In the lobby I suggest that maybe we only use one sniper and people whine. I try to explain that I am trying to even it up and after bitching they agree.  I have run into this MANY time when I try to even the teams up, people kind of being sour.

Now I love Call of Duty, I love HALO, but I no longer play Halo much because the game play is the same, The people playing are SSSOOOOO good with their combos or sniper, I just don’t enjoy it. Also, it is years old and I am a little burned. I still go play, and when with the right people, it is a BLAST.

Anyway, I digress; quit your bitching about Chromehounds. Come see what we are talking about. Don’t judge it by the story mode, get into a squad with some experienced people and helpful and they will help you learn and build some killer machines and enjoy some great battles.

That is my .02

Rock, it's great you've found another game that you enjoy as well as having the Family there in numbers. Lacking a 360, Chromehounds isn't an option for me yet. But, like you I've gotten into another game for the same reasons you've listed, and the fact whenever I log into Halo, everyone's playing Chromehounds. I've joined the ranks of the World of WarCrackheads and having a blast at it. Personally, I think we just need the down time to play other games and "clean the palett" before Halo3 takes over our lives. ;)

i've had a very different experience with ChromeCrack than you: * I'm overwhelmed by the choices and have no clue how to build a proper mech * I die constantly and end up with a negative score over and over * It takes me 5 minutes to find anyone, and then: (see point 2) * I already ran out of money * People don't talk as much as they do in other games And, really, the 4th point is what keeps me playing games anyway. As sad as it may sound to some, our online community is really my friend base so I play to build friendships. I'm really struggling with the ability to understand this game and have fun with friends at the same time, so I'm avoiding it. The most fun I've had with a group playing a game recently was in a COD2 game that actually had netw3rk in it - he was doing his skipping thing and I was busting a gut laughing. But, I still like the occasional Halo game - with OMM, at least, because they are relaxed and fun and with my friends. I don't know, I'll give crack another try I guess, it's just that I'm so freaking overwhelmed right now. At least if I play Uno, I know what to do (wait until Rock does a "force play" on me!)

Wow they finally made rock write a Blog who would have thought:-) And as to said mention of COD and weapons limitations, yeah that never goes over well, because some need what little advantage they can get. Later Rock, and yeah like my brother MTK said dont forget your Hellhound brohters. :-)

I just got a little misty there ;) I agree with much of what you've said, but what makes this game for me is playing it with people from the squad, clan and site. The other aspects are nice, but without the right people (as with any online game) this wouldn't be worth my time. Give ChromeCrack a try with the right people and you'll probably like it. :)

Tait, I feel your pain. I was struggling also, but Giaus really has taken the time to show us how to build, reviewd our mechs, taken us into battles that were action packed and a blast. The addition of a veteran really turned it around for me. It isnt as overwhleming at all, for me atleast. I think I would have given up maybe, beacuse we go into free battle and get our buts handed to us, the into the war and but handed again. Now I am winning, stratagising(SP) and having a blast watching Bunsen rain fire down on Giause...even when he is on our team!!!! The hellhounds are included in this by all means, Rockcrawler Old Man Mafia

At least I can hit what I'm aiming for at 800-900m....granted it was the wrong guy, but I now know if I hit the right person I do tremendous damage! :)
