Car Update

By popular demand, Ill give a short update on my car build progress.
Im getting off to a pretty slow start as it was a real scorcher of a summer in Las Vegas and the first several steps of the build require a lot of room and I needed to do them in the driveway..out in the sun.  Well, you only got about 5 minutes of work time before everything got too hot to touch.  So it sat for awhile.
First step is to get the body off and into the back yard for storage.  We decided the easiest route was through the living room.

As this is primarily a gaming site, Ill point out the xbox slim on the mantel and TV on the wall.  Also thats my friend Jay and daughter Kimmy.

And here she sits.

Next step was a real bitch. I ordered the frame as bare metal as opposed to powdercoated at the factory.  I was worried that theres no way to fix a chip in powdercoating as opposed to  painting.  I had to clean all the protective oil off the metal before I could move on to etching and painting with POR-15 paint.  It was a real bitch..not sure I'd go this route again.  Anyways, heres a few pictures of that process.

Notice all the dirty paper towels on the ground..that is a tiny fraction of what I used.  Not to mention scotchbrite pads.  Did I mention it was a real bitch?

Look at that hansome devil painting away.  Not easily seen in this picture is how much paint I got on me.  That POR-15 doesnt wash off.  It took a week of scrubbing my skin off before I looked normal again.

I should have a bunch more pictures after this weekend.  Planning on getting a lot of work done. Ill post up.
