The ugly truth is out, and that buzzword has/will become the defining feature people will remember of MW3. There are already a bunch of YouTube videos attempting to teach people how to throttle or overload their internet connections, so they will be at an advantage with a low internet speed. It's ridiculous to be handicapped for having a solid connection; might as well cancel Comcast Internet and play MW3 on dial-up for Christ's sake. I've found myself quitting the past 2 nights in disgust after watching the killcams of me lagging behind what's really happening by about a full second.
When this game plays well, it's fun and addicting. Like I said: great controls, great framerate, great light RPG mechanics, fun to unlock stuff, etc. But the basic foundation of the game - the competitive aspect - is utterly destroyed when everyone isn't on the same page. I really do think that the ELITE subscription should have offered dedicated servers for paying members. No online competitive shooter is worth taking seriously without dedicated servers to keep things even. Battlefield has them, Left4Dead has them, Gears of War now has them, CounterStrike:GO will have them...

In other personal gaming news:
I liked Dungeon Defenders. Definitely a game that needs to be played online cooperatively though, if you want to gain levels.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary is sweet. Good job by 343 Industries - switching back and forth between the old and new reskinned versions, old Halo:CE looks downright bland and even ugly at times. Played with my son through the game on Legendary. Gotten almost every achievement except for the Legendary timed Library run and the Heroic Library run without dying. Have yet to try the new mp maps - the new Firefight map will probably be the first I play - love me some Firefight mode.
D&D Daggerdale finally got it's update after 6 months. Been waiting forever. Decent little hack n slash, was on sale for $6 or something the other day. Reminded me that I really would like to get LORD OF THE RINGS: WAR IN THE NORTH too. Made by Snowblind Studios, who made one of my favorite PS2 games: Baldurs' Gate:Dark Alliance.
I downloaded PEGGLE for my 3 yr old to try...and found I kinda liked it ("You Want Peggle?!!...Go F Yourself!" - IGN Borderlands video - www.youtube.com/watch )
And lastly, I'm dying waiting to play SKYRIM. I held off buying it, so at least someone could finally buy me something for XMAS that I would appreciate.
Thanks for reading. Game on, fellow old farts.
