Shared on Fri, 10/27/2006 - 07:41So, last night I did some "research" to get idea of a basic feature set from Photoshop when I decided to take a moment to think of a product name for this new brain child. My wife came up with "Splatter Bug" which I kind of liked. Thinking about a logo for such a name though kind of turned me away from the idea. So I simply shortened it to "Splatter".
When you take out the plugin mechanism it's surprising how little functionality there is in Photoshop available via the floating tool bar. I say "little" because I'm used to 3D modeling packages that have more options than the Linux Kernel.
I've done some C# in the past but it's definitely been a while. In the past I wrote a basic IP-level network sniffer to learn the language and I did a little contract job writing a custom analog clock for some guy. I also messed around with C# to do some ASP.NET stuff for fun one weekend. Rather than dive in and try to bang out an application I think I'm going to write a bunch of little test applications for stuff like a color-control, paintbrush-ing, text rendering, etc...
After I feel comfy with the technology then I can start with a good design document, feature road-map, and a UI prototype.
I'll post up screenies of the dumb little test-apps as I cook them up.
For those of you unaware, I'm a big techno fan. More specifically I enjoy good Goa-Psy. As of late I've been hearing quite a bit of GrandaddyDJ on Digitally Imported. I found his site where he has a stream playing 24/7. Stop by and give it a listen. Unless of course you hate techno.
