Shared on Mon, 10/15/2007 - 08:23For those of you who bought the Orange Box on the 360 because you were worried there wouldn't be enough PC gamers - you were wrong! The 2o2p steam group now has 40+ members and seems to be growing almost daily. Our Team Fortress 2 server is setup for 16 slots and it's a *very* popular server. This weekend we kept it full every night! I got a report from one 2o2p member that the server was still full at 4 AM on Saturday morning.
My hats of to Valve for getting the new friends/community system off the ground and offering some great "XBL-like" features. The most important one is the notificaitons of when your friends join a specific server/game. It allows you to easily click on a single button to join the server they are on. I think it's because of this one feature alone that the 2o2p TF2 server is always full!
2old2play always has been an XBox hangout first and PC hangout second. For the last couple of years I think we've seen a little growth in the base of the PC gaming crew, mostly from World of Warcraft. It's good to see more people coming out of the woodwork and new users signing up to the site with the release of TF2. I'm in the camp of folks that think PC gaming hasn't exactly gone the way of the dinosaur. It's simply fallen behind a bit in the multiplayer "user friendly" arena as the consoles (most notably the XBL platform) have produced fantastic models of how to do multiplayer the right way.
So, if you are interested in getting back into, or trying out PC gaming for the first time, I highly suggest giving the Orange Box a shot and we look forward to seeing you in the 2o2p PC gaming community!
