80's Bloggin

Slipstream

Yesterday, while I was fishing (caught a bass and a mess of bluegill) I was wondering what it would have been like to Blog in the 80’s. I figured today I would pretend it’s 1981…
We got a new guy at work today. He doesn't really fit in, but he keeps trying. What a poser.
I was watching the news and some jockey named Shoemaker won his 8000th race. How is that even possible? If he won a race everyday it would take him over 21 years to achieve that!
Speaking of sports, did anybody see that game between San Antonio and Golden State? San Antonio blocked 20 shots! It was gnarly. Gervin had another good night. Some people may disagree, but I think Gervin is a lock for the Hall of Fame. Moore’s pretty good too and Silas can still contribute, but I don’t think Silas will be with the team much longer. The Spurs have a real shot at the Finals this year, as long as they can get past the Lakers (cause everyone knows the Lakers are the team to beat in the west).
I read an article in the paper today that IBM has invented a computer for the home. Yeah, like that’s going to happen. I bet it’ll be expensive as hell. It’ll probably cost at least $5000! Besides, what can you do with one? They’re just glorified calculators if you ask me. I was reading a science fiction story in Omni magazine a couple of weeks ago. In the story, everyone had a computer in their home. They used it to get their news, plan their day, talk to each other, and they could even play games on it. That would be cool, but there’s a reason it’s called Science Fiction.
There’s a new movie coming out in June that I really want to see. It’s got that guy from Star Wars who played Han Solo. He’s some kind of adventurer who’s trying to recover some religious thing from the Nazis. It looks kind of cheesy, but I bet it will be pretty good. I think Clash of the Titans comes out around the same time. Good luck competing with that! I wouldn’t be surprised if Clash of the Titans breaks some kind of box office record. Everybody I’ve talked to plans on going to see it opening day.
Well, I gotta get going. I want to run by the record store and buy the new Who album.
And now...back to the present
