Earthquake!!!

I’m sure stories of this morning’s earthquake are being told to death…but I’m going to tell my own anyway.

I live just south of Indianapolis. This morning, a little after 5:30am, I was in my bathroom having my “morning constitutional” and reading the latest issue of Game Informer. Suddenly, the house felt like it was swaying side to side. I have a watch hanging from the towel rack and it was visible swaying back and forth. Then I knew what had happened. I finished my business and went upstairs. My wife was sitting up in bed asking, “What was that? What was that?” I told her it was an earthquake. She asked what she would do, which I thought was funny because earthquakes don’t last very long. I would guess the one that happened this morning lasted about 30 seconds. My boss text messaged me, “OMG!!! We just had an earthquake!!”

I always thought animals were supposed to give warning signs. Our bird didn’t make a peep and one of my dogs didn’t act like anything was amiss. Our other dog didn’t give any warning, but afterward she refused to come out of her kennel.

About 45 minutes ago, here at work, the office started vibrating. My monitor started shaking and didn’t stop for what seemed like a full minute. My boss’s mother-in-law called and said she felt it as well. I looked it up on the news and their calling it a 4.5 aftershock (the first one was 5.2-5.4).

This all happened the day after a weird incident just north of Indy. People in Kokomo reported a loud noise and seeing lights fall from the sky, crashing to the ground. The initial response was that it was a meteor. Later on, the military said it was F-16 doing training exercises and breaking the sound barrier, which in turned caused the lights. Then, they changed the story slightly and said the F-16s broke the sound barrier and were dropping flares.

Hmmm…things falling from the sky? The earth opening up? I wonder if I should reread Revelations and see if the Midwest is a focal point for the apocalypse.

Oh well, if it is, its been a good run. In the meantime, enjoy!

I was in my car stopped at a red light, and thought someone had read-ended me. Then the news on the radio cut to "we just had an earthquake".

We had Fox News on at work and for about 4 hours they couldn't stop talking about this "minor quake." What was cool was the fact of 50 something aftershocks in an hour and that was felt in Vegas.

I'm pretty sure if Jesus comes back, he'll want to make a visit to Indianapolis his first priority. I mean who wouldn't?
