Making Progress

I got to see my daughter last night. It was awkward at first, but it wasn’t near as bad as I thought it would be. We went swimming and played some pool volleyball for a couple of hours. I figured she would ask some questions, but she never did. It looks like I’ll have to pull her to the side this weekend and initiate things. Fortunately, there didn’t seem to be any kind of resentment toward me. She might just be hiding it right now, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I was dismayed to learn she’s being held back at school. She’s definitely intelligent, but she’s also kind of lazy. I have a feeling she’s probably not doing her homework. She hinted as much, but since this is the first time I’ve seen her in awhile I decided not to press the issue.

Damn, American Idol. I don’t like the show, but I just can’t keep myself away. It’s too bad about Chikezie. I think he was probably voted off because he picked a song that was different from what he had been doing. No, it wasn’t the most exciting performance, but it was far from being the worst performance. What’s-her-name that sang “God Bless the USA” did good for once, but she should have been voted off a month ago. And what was with the guy in the bottom three who wouldn’t shut up? I didn’t think he sang that bad, but he’s really got to work on his interview skills. Just based on that I’m guessing he won’t be around next week.
