Shared on Thu, 03/20/2008 - 10:26I think I might have picked a bad time to join a gaming site and extend my gaming horizons. I’m an NCAA tournament fanatic. Once the games start at 12:20 today, it’s all I’ll be obsessed with until it’s over. This year, I filled out three brackets and entered an NCAA drawing. In the drawing, the only team I got worth mentioning is Stanford. They’re a good team, but I don’t think they are Final Four worthy. In my “play it safe” bracket, my Final Four teams are UNC, Memphis, Kansas, and UCLA (UNC and UCLA in finals with UNC winning). In my “gut instinct” bracket my Four are Tennessee, Michigan State, UCLA, and Kansas (Kansas and UCLA in finals with Kansas winning). In my “go out on a limb” bracket my Four are Tennessee, Pittsburg, Vanderbilt, and Connecticut (Tennessee and Pittsburg in the finals with Pittsburgh winning). I wish I could, in good conscious, pick my Hoosiers to go far, but I think they’ll be lucky to make it out of the first round. If the Hoosiers make it out of the first round, then they’ll play Carolina in the second round. That would be awesome since I’d have my favorite team playing my least favorite team.
In the spirit of sports, I shall attempt to post a cheerleader pic:
The website claimed it was a cheerleader, but who knows?
What is the deal with American Idol? Why is it still so popular? I thought the first two seasons were good, but after that it was just the same stuff with Simon throwing out the same insults. I still watch it from time to time with my wife, but after the initial auditions there just doesn’t seem to be much entertainment value. I saw the rocker chick got voted off. That’s too bad. Even though she wasn’t the strongest singer at least she offered something different from the usual “bubble gum” performances I usually see.
Uh-oh, time to talk politics. I try to keep up with politics and probably know as much as the average person, but I’m in no way a political expert. I don’t consider myself a Democrat or Republican and prefer to sit in the middle and lean whichever way strikes me at the time (admittedly, I’ve been described as a Conservative Democrat). I have no idea how I’ll vote in the upcoming election. I read articles, blogs, and political websites to get a feel for which candidate is the best fit for the country. Recently, I found something that has caused me to lean a bit toward John McCain. It’s nothing political and probably not the best “issue” to use to make a decision about who to vote for. However, I couldn’t deny the coolness of it. John McCain has an NCAA bracket challenge on his website. After today they’ll show his picks. If he picked Indiana to go all the way, he’s got my vote.
