6 things that annoy me about NCAA ‘08

#1 The fact that there are no lights on in the dorms during a night game. How hard is it to make a frikkin light come on in a couple rooms? Instead the just fade into darkness and look plain stupid.

#2 Why are half the people in attendance wearing the same thing to a game and that same thing is a short sleeved shirt…. when the weather channel just said it was 52 degrees outside? With all this stupendous processing power they should have people standing up at key points of the game, doing the wave, have a ton more cheers, etc. The crowd is exactly the same as last year.

#3 What the hell is up with the announcer in the stadium exactly mirroring what the announcer on the TV says. This was a huge pet peeve from last year’s game. When you’re playing a televised game you’re suppose to be getting a TV look and feel but each time the dude on TV announces the score / down / yard to go, the dude in the stadium announces the same exact thing only .5 seconds after each word the dude on the TV says it… every time!

#4 Forward progress. Is it just me or are they marking forward progress in the game to the place the tackle starts half the time. I can count the number of times I’ve fallen forward across the first down line just be marked back where the initial hit took place!

#5 Where the living hell is the ‘Chain Gang’!?!?!?! The only marker we have now is a frikkin orange line! There’s not even a line of scrimmage marker on the sideline now to know if you got 0 yards on the run. The announcer will even say "Time to move the chains"! That is just plain ridiculous. Please someone tell me if this is an option you turn on someplace that some 'Pro' thought was useless and should be left off.

#6 Legend Mode… I’m really enjoying it but who coded to frikkin interface!? A monkey? There are two steps to every day… Practice and School events. Practice is really only needed until you get the #1 slot in the position you play as repeat practices after this don’t give you any bonuses that I’ve seen. You can sim each one of the events separately but it involves 4 button clicks every time with the chance of hitting one that’ll either cancel or take you into the manual practice. It could have been so much more fluid than this… coach gives you feedback on you performance, parties are held on campus, workouts each week with mini-games (That are already programmed from Madden last year!!!) This new stuff amounts to only a couple weeks of new development.

I could continue but this game is an exact repeat of the lemon they gave us last year. Of course, it’s the only NCAA football game out there so I’ll be playing through January just like everyone else.
