...they know how to execute people:

(CNN) -- Saudi Arabian officials beheaded and then publicly displayed the body of a convicted killer in Riyadh on Friday, an act that prompted a stiff denunciation by a leading human rights monitor.

The Saudi Interior Ministry said Ahmed Al-Shamlani Al-Anzi was sentenced to death and then "crucifixion" -- having his body displayed in public -- for the kidnapping and killing of an 11-year-old boy and for the killing of the boy's father, according to the official Saudi Press Agency.

Amnesty International issued a statement deploring the punishment, with the group's Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui saying in a statement it is "horrific" that beheadings and crucifixions "still happen."

Even though the word "crucifixion" is used to describe the public display, the act has no connection to Christianity and the crucifixion of Jesus. The bodies are not displayed on crosses, Lamri Chirouf, who researches Saudi Arabian issues for Amnesty, explained.

The Saudi Interior Ministry asserted that Al-Anzi's body was displayed as a warning that those involved in similar crimes would suffer the same fate, the press agency reported.

The ministry said Al-Anzi kidnapped the boy and held him for a "malicious purpose" at a grocery store where he worked. He tied rope around the boy's neck and strangled him to death, the ministry said.

When the boy's father came to the store looking for his son, Al-Anzi axed the father repeatedly until the man died. When police came to arrest Al-Anzi, Al-Anzi resisted arrest by threatening them with a knife.

Police later discovered that Al-Anzi had been previously convicted of other crimes, including possession of pornographic videos and sodomy, the Interior Ministry said...

...Chirouf said those crucified are beheaded first and then their heads are sewn back on their bodies. Then, the corpse is mounted on a pole or a tree.

Beheading is quick and painless? Tell that to Thomas Cromwell.

If I was that boys relative, I'd be sleeping better at night. Not saying I agree with their methods but the family of the victims atleast gets swift justice. Something to be said for that.

Beheading is less cruel than the gas chamber, hanging, and the firing squad. He got off light.

I agree...beheading is quick, virtually painless and not very cruel at all. The worst part is the crucifixion, which is just a statement to others like him...'do something of this nature and this is what you have to look forward to'. Not that I agree with the way they do things...but you've got to admit that it is better than keeping a child molester in prison for 10 years than letting them go so they can do it again.

Just bring back the good old methods of Vladimir Dracula. Impale the bastards through the rectum on a wooden pole....let them take a day or so before they suffocate.

I talked to a guy the other day that was beheaded. He said it didn't hurt a bit. My point being, that while it appears to us that it is painless, how do we know?

I don't care if it is painful, it is effective. I support swift justice over the convoluted mess we have. But keep in mind, that in Saudi, pornography is a picture of Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies...not somewhere I want this country to go.

I honestly couldnt care if it were painful or not. If our country had harsher penalties for crimes then maybe people might actually be detoured from committing them. If you hand is going to get cut off if you get caught robbing from someone I guarantee that people are going to think a little harder about it. *oh nos, the man who killed two other people actually had some pain with his punishment. Cry me a river. Im sure that he thought of the most pain free way to kill that 11 year old boy*

@jmarps...I'm pretty sure it was painful for the kid to be "maliciously purposed" and strangled and the dad to be axed to death. Why is it you are more concerned about the possibly pain suffered by a fucked up criminal than the victims? Something is very wrong with that.
