Let me tell ya, it was hard to visit this year, as the in-law family has taken a change for the strange. Well, stranger then they already are. My wife's cousins and Uncle have gone from being die-hard Baptists, to being Messianic Jews. What the F is a Messianic Jew?
Well: Messianic Judaism is a religious movement whose adherents believe that Jesus of Nazareth, whom they call Yeshua, is both the resurrected Jewish Messiah and their Divine Savior. They are still considered Christians however.
But on top of this, they no longer celebrate Xmas like good Baptists do. Well, they do have a "Just Because" day, but they do not give presents on Xmas day. Needless to say, this has torn a rift in this die-hard Baptist family.
I mean seriously! They take the "fun" out of "fundametalists".
Xmas day dinner went off without any huge yelling arguments though, so I guess they had that going for them. It was just a bit strange to see all of them with Tzitzits hanging off their pants (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=tzitzit&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi).
Anyways, I survived the in-laws family and am now safely ensconced with my family who is technologically adept (My dad is pushing 80 and knows computers better then some 20 year olds I know.)
I felt blind and deaf, before, but now I'm fine. 1100 miles drive, and another 900+ to go. Oh joy.
