Just a Reminder - Restrepo on Tonight

Tonight on National Geographic, Restrepo will debut.  (Although, if you have VOD, it is available there as the wife and I found out this past weekend and watched most of it already).

I've been wanting to see this documentary ever since I first heard of it, and I just found out that it is being released on TV this month on NatGeo.

For those of you who don't know what Restrepo is, it's a 90 min documentary that was filmed by Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington. They film at what is considered the most dangerous outpost located in Afghanistan.

RESTREPO is a feature-length documentary that chronicles the deployment of a platoon of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan's Korengal Valley. The movie focuses on a remote 15-man outpost, "Restrepo," named after a platoon medic who was killed in action. It was considered one of the most dangerous postings in the U.S. military. This is an entirely experiential film: the cameras never leave the soldiers; there are no interviews with generals or diplomats. The only goal is to make viewers feel as if they have just been through a 90-minute deployment. This is war, full stop. The conclusions are up to you.

One of the prominently featured stories is that of SSGT. Sal Giunta, who will be the first living Medal of Honor receipient since Vietnam.

This should be a really good show.
