However, management decided to reinstitute a dress code. For the past 2-3 years, we haven't had an official dress code. So we were able to wear jeans and T-shirts if we wanted to. Now, we are back to "business casual", which, I don't have much of a problem with. However, there is no "Casual Fridays" so we can't even wear jeans on those days. Suxor.
To top it off, the grapevine is flush with new rumors of lay-offs in July. You shouldn't beleive rumors, but when it comes to rumors of lay-offs, they are 99% right. The date may be wrong, but they do happen.
I'm not sure our group can handle to lose another person. Last lay-off was supposed to be 10% across the board, but somehow, our group lost (2) people instead of (1), which constituted a 20% loss for us, and a significant increase in work for those that weren't Riff'd.
Now I'm concerned about the vacation I have scheduled for July and whether I should take it or not. I'd rather not be called in the middle of my vacation to have to come back and get fired.
The joys of life.
