Yesterday was just an ordinary day for me. I woke up at 5pm as I am working mid shift this month, and let the dog out. Took a shower and got dressed and was on my way to work. That is when my life was about to change.

As I put my car into reverse, I heard a tone beep. The tell tale sound of a text message. So thinking it might be important I hit the brakes and checked to see what or who it could be. The message was simple and to the point, it read: "ASU rocks the world"

Seeing it was from my best friend of my youth living back in Ohio I put a respond to it. I asked who they had beaten. Because like the head coach of michigan I had know idea who they were playing. Chris sent back the score of the ASU Michigan game and I was litteraly too shocked to move. Having knowledge of both schools I knew right then that what had happened was going to be headed for the history books.

Michigan is a school in a town allegedly named for a prostitute that founded the university in 1869, I don't know I was not there but that is the rumor I heard. Appalachian State is a small school located in Boone North Carolina. In case you wonder you go west from Charlotte to Ashville, then north past Hickory (make sure you take time to cruise the Hardee's) and on north thru Blowing Rock and down the mountain into Boone.

Chris and I went to highschool together and he went on to, and graduate from App State. I can say with pride that I was there the weekend in 1985 when the blue laws were lifted and BEER was available in Boone. No more driving into Blowing Rock for beer. Me, I went to the Navy and then to Ohio State.

Now just let me say that Boone is a beautiful town and ASU has some hotties that are second to none, but being from Ohio State, when I went to one of their games it was like going to a large high school game. It didn't have the feel of a Big Ten school. There were no lines to get beer. The parking was ample. The people were quiet and friendly. And before the game started the fans stood and sang the song Amazing Grace.

Quite a change from Ohio States famous Kegs and Eggs that used to start at 6am at Papa Joes and then on to 5 dollar buckets of beer and fighting to get thu the over 100,00 in attendance AT the game and 100,00 tailgaters that could not get tickets. If we win against Michigan at home, I have seen them light fires and go crazy. If we lost I have seen tour busses flipped over an water shut off to the Hyatt down town. So lets just say it is a different game atmosphere at the two schools. Until yesterday...

I am sure walking out, the ASU fans were greated by what must have looked like the bataan death march of michigan fans walking back to their cars. I am sure they, like the rest of the nation were in total shock by what had just happened. And while everyone in Boone is trying to get anything with ASU written on it michigan fans sit back and wonder if it was all just a horrible dream.

I only sent a couple of text messages to the few michigan fans i know. I did want to call them, it was all just to horrible. The text said one word, and I think it got the point across because not one of them have text'd me back.

The text read:

....owned

In case any of you want to see a repeat of this beat down, Ohio State will be playing michigan in michigan so make sure to clear your dance card as we go north to finish what ASU started, and pimp slap michigan and yell "Where is my money!"
