Viva Las Vegas

We are back all safe and sound. My wife and I did a 6 day stint in Las Vegas and lived to tell the tale. Here are some fun facts.

Apparently now, the "in" thing is time shares. We were asked almost anywhere we went to come and look at the presentations that these folks had. The condos or whatever are going in right on the strip. It seems like a good idea, but after watching the southpark episode, I had to say no way.

When I lived in Las Vegas in 1995 the population was just over 750,000. As of today the population is at just under 2 million. With current growth rates they are planning to go over 4 million in the next ten years.

Traffic was aweful. And over half of the traffic was cabs. Nice huh? Well the monorail is helping, as are the walkover bridges, but they are do to have a major problem as they build and build and build.

The one big question I had for the locals was a simple one. "Where are you getting/going to get your water?"

That is water for 2 million showers, 2 million sets of dishes, 2 million toilet flushes, ect..... a day! That and they are going to double in size again in 10 years, and they are in the high desert to start with.

And what about jobs. This one seemed to stump most of the locals. No one would aswer the same, they said that those who were flocking to Las Vegas were retirees, or folks in construction or what ever. That is a lot of pensioners.

Well, I will try to upload some photos from our trip as soon as I can.

Good to be back home,

Speed
