Shared on Tue, 11/09/2010 - 10:12Let me start by saying I'm new to online multiplayer FPS games, oh and I'm not very good at them either. Infact, my first experience was MW2 , I played that as the holy grail of FPS until one two many akimbo shotgun rounds to the face, death from painkiller pro and care package glitches got on my last nerve. I couldnt take anymore. Sold the game, purchased Battlefield Bad Company 2. Great game, until a new species of animal was created The Bush Wookie. ( the guy/gal in the sniper kit who sits in one spot, camps one small sector of a high traffic area and racks up kills). That got on my last nerve. So I purchased Medal of Honor, another great game in theory until people figured out that the extremely detailed enviroment was great cover. Grab a one hit sniper weapon, wait for the smoke grenade to clear, and bang you're making a mess. Let's not talk about Halo, I am frightened of that experience. Personally , the Halo mp folks are on another level. Not that its a bad thing, and I may be totally offbase, Halo to me seems like a shit-ton more diffcult to play MP wise than any of the shooters i've mentioned.
It just seems to me that these software companies keep turning out games that are basically garbage. More disturbing is we keep buying them. People wrapped around Gamestops, Walmarts, and Bestbuys like silly string waiting to shell out upwards of $150.00 for something that is bug filled , out of proportion , and generally half assed. I'm just as guilty as the other guy. Hell, I've purchased Reach, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Medal of Honor, and Modern Warfare 2. There are those that get enjoyment out of playing these games, including myself. However, all I ask is for everything to work as it should. Minor hiccups are totally acceptable, and understandable. Doing nothing for long periods of time to fix those issues is nuts. What do they care, you've allready paid their salaries, fixing the bugs aren't any concern.
As my Grandfather always said "Never bring up a problem unless you have a solution." So here's my solution, and it'll never happen. If it does i'll be expect the four horseman of the appcolypse to be knocking down my door. These developers need to field test their MP creation with something other than people who've been given a key for buying a previous title. They need to cover a bigger demographic. So, you do what happened a few weeks ago. Take a huge gaming site like 2old2play. Get them involed, have their players test your mess and actually listen to what they have to say. I know, it would be easier to turn Iran into a Democracy than have devolopers of any company reach out to the people that pay their bills. Kinda sounds like the US Government. To bad we can't vote em out either.
Crazy idea, I know. Won't fix a thing, I know. But hell it feels better to get it off your chest, and my dumbass will be on BFBC2 this week, being food for bush wookies, having fun, and making a mess. But then again, if people are enjoying the games, having fun, and making companies millions of dollars , why fix it? If this seems like i'm looking for a ingame crutch to compensate for my lack of skill , it isnt. Hell make the games better , and horrible players like me won't have anything to complain about expect our lack of skill, and i'll save that for my next blog.
