Shared on Thu, 08/23/2007 - 13:28It's been a somewhat stressful week, but looks like things are up now.
Jon (dieseltwinz) had his surgery appointment this morning from his New Year's Eve injury (ice that forms in less than 15 minutes + concrete steps + back = bad injury) he turned black (very black) and blue. Of course being the stubborn "macho" male that he is, he didn't go to the doctor until a few months later and a huge nasty bump, which we affectionately named "The Fanny Pack", had formed complete with icky stretch marks. He was then given some medication to see if the swelling would go down, but it didn't work. The doctor he went to told him that he'd probably have it for two years before it would go away completely.
So last month he got tired of everyone bumping into it and his clothes not fitting and people telling him that he needed to go to another doctor and he went to see someone else. They did a CT-scan on him, and some blood work, and sent him to a plastic surgeon because they didn't think it could be drained. Apparently they did find out that when he fell, a blood vessel broke and the blood collected in the cavity where he lost one of his kidneys when he was 8 or 9. The surgeon said that he thought it could be drained, so Jon was ping-ponged from Dr. to Dr. until he got fed up with it, and demanded someone do something about it. So yesterday they did even more blood work and today before they decided whether to cut it out (in case it was a cancerous tumor) or drain it, he had to have another CT-scan. Talk about stress...how could an injury like that end up in maybe being a cancerous tumor??
I just found out that after all those tests, it just needed to be drained. So he sent me a text after it was done, I can tell he's WAY out of it, "drunk" is the word he used. Excerpt from his text, which I thought was funny:
He even has a Cingular 8125 with the slide out keyboard hahah
So now my stress level is pretty much back to normal. Whew. To celebrate, I think I'm going to treat us to a copy of Bioshock.
Oh yeah, moral of the story...if you turn black and blue go to the doctor just to make sure everything is okay, otherwise you'll might have a lot more to deal with in the long run.
