Shared on Wed, 02/18/2009 - 09:43So here in the northeast, we have an unusual thing called February vacation that takes place the week of Presidents day. It is a week off of school and a PITA for parents who need to scramble and figure out what to do with their kids for a week. Especially tough where the parent or parents work. Note that the kids also get a week in April for spring break. But don't feel too jealous since these two weeks + inevitable snow days means the kids usually do not get out of school until the end of June.
Anyway, been out and about the last few days with the family doing a little of this and a little of that. Basically no time to play on line. The weird thing for me is that while I like games, I have never been that obsessed except when I pick up a new one and have to get through it. But since I have joined this site, I have been really craving getting on line to play (which I haven't been able to do). I enjoyed playing with the folks I have met and like reading some of the posts (game related and otherwise). There are a lot of cool and interesting people here. Plus a few of us went 1-50 on horde last week so early success is always a potent drug.
I guess I can be obsessive about some things and this gaming thing certainly has me hooked. Perhaps it is just like having a new toy and the fun factor will wear off eventually. It seems like a lot of us are online a ton and judging from activity on this site, posting a bunch here. (For example, I am supposed to be working today.) Seems like a really cool opportunity to meet some folks with a similar interest that I definitely wouldn't get to meet any other way.
Looking forward to crossing paths and chainsaws with lots of you.
BTW - here is a link to see me and my kids skiing in NH. http://www.waterville.com/winter/?ri_video=25061 It is the video from Feb 17 labeled Another Fun Tuesday. At the very end, you can see my daughter in green jacket and son in brown skiing away from the camera man. Then there is some random dude who got in the shot and then yours truly. As you can see my kids are faster and better than me already.....
