But we got word today from our Vet that he has some form cancer. He got a thyroid problem about a year ago and has been on meds for that, but we found blood in his litter box and he hasn't been eating so another trip to the vet and another blood test. His red blood cell count is way low, significantly lower than when we took him in two months ago for his regular checkup.
Pet medical technology is every bit as advanced now as for humans. We could pay out the ass to have s ton of labs and xrays and scans done to find out exactly what type it is and then surgery and then chemo, but all that would probably kill him at his age. Not to mention we don't have the money for such treatments being on a single income.
The cat came into our life via my wife's mom, she gave him to the kids for xmas some 18 years ago. Grandma passed away 10 years ago but the kids and wife all have a very centamental attachment to him so it's going to be hard for all of them. I put up with the fur ball, but i love my dog. The wife has called the kids and told them they have a few days to come home to say goodbye to the cat. We're goign to try and get him to eat something, even if it's sugar mixed with tuna juice to get some carbs into him to keep him going. But the end is here, RIP kitty.
