Shared on Tue, 11/14/2006 - 13:08We've all been there before, but this happened to me last night and it hasn't happened in a long time, so I just wanted to vent.
So, my wife and I go to the gym. She has a class at 6:45pm, and i just do an hour's worth of cardio while she's in there. anyway, the gym we go to is always packed out around this time, but, when we got there last night, parking was a nightmare! people are parked on the sides of the ends of the rows and along every available piece of curb. we're like "wtf?" so, we get around to the other side, and lo and behold we see the reason: they have a pretty sizeable gravel section that is blocked off, i assume so they can pave it. now, i know there would be no good time to do this, but to have it blocked off during peak hours, and nothing going on yet, really chaps my hide. anyway, so we continue around to the back of the building where we see this group of guys going to their car. i followed them around, only to find out they're parked in the corner by the dumpster. no thanks. so, i turn around and go back to the regular parking lot, just cruising. by this time it's been about 15 minutes, which isn't terrible, but given the size of the parking lot, it seemed like forever. so, i go down this one side and am coming back up the other when i see a car getting ready to back out. i yell triumphantly and speed up, putting my blinker on as i go. then i sit there waiting for a few moments while they ease on out. then i notice that there is a car on the other side of them getting ready to cross over, and i'm like "you better see that i have my blinker on and follow proper parking lot etiquette." well, sure enough the bastards whips right into my spot!!!!! i just sit there stunned and beginning to boil as i slowly roll forward and stop across from them giving them the evil eye. that's when i notice that it's the punks that i just saw move their car from the other side!! and to make matters worse, they weren't there to work out - i know this because they were wearing jeans and other clothing not suitable for working out. now i'm REALLY pissed since i know there's absolutely no reason why they should be parking there, even if they have a reason for being there. so we continue looking for a spot and find one on the opposite row a few minutes later. as we are walking up to the gym, we can see their car, and they're all just standing around the car, talking or something, which made me even angrier. it's one thing to steal a spot, but if you're gonna do it, at least be going into the facility where you stole it!!!!!!!!!
i entertained the notion to key their car (i've never done it before, but it's been done to me) or slit their tires (never done that either) but 1.) my wife told me not to (i probably wouldn't have done it anyway) and 2.) their car was a piece of shit anyways, so they probably wouldn't have cared (at least about the keying - which is how slitting the tires popped into my head). it just really pissed me off, on top of there being so few spots opening up.
there, my rant is over. down with the parking spot thieves!
