Cougars

On my favorite radio show this morning they decided they needed clear definition around "Cougars" - a favorite subject of 2old2play's.

I disagree with their assessment of:

MILF - A mom up to age 35

Cougar - Ages 35-45

Puma - Ages 46-55

Sabre Tooth - Ages 56 and up.

First of, I don't think MILF even belongs in the discussion. It's a separate category, I think. And as far as cougars go, I think it's more important to look at relative age instead of absolute age. I propose the following:

Couger - 10-20 years older than boy toy.

Puma - 20-30 years older than boy toy.

Sabre Tooth - 31 or more years older than boy toy.

Vote people! This is important.

I agree with your assessment. Milf and Cougar are independent classifications. The girl can be younger and still be a Milf.

Milf is an independent distinction irregardless of age. I prefer your classifications based on age difference rather than what age they actually are. Much props to the lady who falls under the sabre toooth status. Thats some serious game.

I agree, the only requirement for a MILF is to be an attractive mother, age is irrelevant. cougar implies both age and aggressiveness. A hot older woman is not a cougar unless she's actively preying upon the testosterone of younger men.

MILF - any hot mom, dudes salivate over. Cougar.. any woman significantly older than a guy she's dating. And 40 year old women dating 20 year old boys are still Cougars... I don't know where this PUMA thing came from. A cougar is a puma. They are the same species. Dunno where this came from.

your cougar age range is wrong...and this is why.. Guy is 18 Woman is 28...that does not equal Cougar..I think you need to up it to 15-20 years.. but otherwise...it looks good.

MILF is by all means age-independent, if a women is hot and has a kid, then she is a MILF. Enosh is correct regarding the aggressiveness factor of the term cougar. Also, as lb points out, sheer age difference does not a cougar make. A 30-something woman boinking a high-school student is NOT a cougar, she is a teacher from Alabama. Kitten is correct regarding the term puma, it is simply a regional name for cougar, as is panther, mountain lion and jaguar as well. I also have issues with the term sabertooth, which would indicate an extinct status, not very useful for hunting you prey. Love the discussion BTW.

oooooo, what about non-aggresive "older" women........????? Either way, it is the age difference, not the age itself.

The subjective evaluation of females in popular culture is really what is at stake here. By applying your model of relative age, you have balanced the power of evaluation towards the female. We cannot have that. The title Cougar or MILF itself is an evaluation of the female, independent of any male. Women of a certain age can take cougaresque action without even having a boy toy. Therefore, I disagree with your definitions and believe we should reevaluate in a fashion that is more misogynistic. Anything else is a perversion of the original intent.

I want to know when this whole cougar thing started and why? Men date younger women. What do we call older men who date younger women? Why don't they have a name..

MILF=an attractive older mother regardless of age. Cougar=an older woman hunting younger men where there is a material difference in ages. Do not need the extra distinctions, it only demeans the cougars with AARP cards.

i agree more with your numbers more then the radio show. and yes, a milf as any mom you would like to......well you know. doesnt matter the age. although i think it began as younger guy-older woman thing but i think it has evolved from the american pie older mom to any mom.
