Bought a fancy DSLR camera a couple weeks ago. I'm going to take a class next week to learn how to use it better. And then I have a few more classes scheduled after that. Here are a couple pictures I took today that I'm pretty happy with...

A Lady Slipper cropped up close:

And the very cool eyes and horns of our new Russell's Lionfish

I think the Eel from my last blog is still my favorite though...

I am jealous of the fish tank, I have always wanted one and will probably have one... Some day. The pics look good, I cant even tell you took them through glass. You will have to let us know how the classes go.

Pretty pictures. I'm mildly jealous. I always wanted a saltwater tank, but they're hella expensive. Well, I have two turtles. They're like the anti-salt water tank. That's not just because they live in fresh water, they're like the animal world's equivalent of the cactus, with regards to maintenance.

I got into saltwater about 6 months ago and have so far had no real problems. I got it all off craigslist and have spent less than $500 for about a 160 gallons of water. I went with the live rock and refugium route with no desire for coral mostly becuase of the light requirements...I still think about an anemone for my clowns from time to time. My tank is still really lightly stocked. I plan on getting a few more fish soon.

We had a bubble-tip anemone with our maroon clown and it NEVER left the anemone. And if any fish came near it - the maroon clown would chase it off. But if was cool to give the clown a piece of kryll and watch him bring it down to the anemone's oral cavity.

Nice snowflke eel . I had one of those for a long time then one day I couldnt find him I searshed and searched. Finally I found him on the floor behind my tank he looked like a Slim Jim. Eels like Octopi are escape artists. Get scuba cirtified you will want to loose the tank and get a underwater housing for your SLR.
