Weird dream...

Last night I dreamt that I got a Lancer out of a Care Package. That information is probably more apt as FB update than a blog. But what the hell, I haven't blogged in a while. Life has been pretty random lately. Still trying to figure out my next steps job-wise. I'm getting 13 wks severance and I have no idea if that is even good or not. For only working here 2 years that seems 'ok' - perspective welcome. I just have no sense of what is 'average' or 'good'. Maybe that's great for all I know...My goal is to have it all figured out next month.

CoD MW2 is awesome. But you already knew that. I'm a 69 ready to roll over this week...

I've been reading 'American Gods' by Neil Gaiman...It's a pretty good book. It rolls along nicely and then all of a sudden throws the most random, marginally perverted, odd few paragraphs at you. I find myself looking forward to those WTF moments - haha.

Past that...I have nothing interesting. Happy Holidays bitches.

PS - there's a lady in my office rocking out to hardcore Christmas music with her office door shut. It sort of upset my Monday. Call me Scrooge.

13 weeks is pretty awesome. Standard is two. When i got laid off a year ago i got 2 weeks for every year which is the first time ever i'd gotten more than just two weeks

I should also add, they've also given you what, 6 months notice or something? That's pretty huge as well, usually when you get laid off, you're shown the door the day you find out. So all in all i think you're getting a pretty good deal. It still sucks that you're loosing your job but they're at least trying to look after the people they're letting go. Don't forget though if you get one huge lump sum check which is typical, taxes are going to fuck you sideways. Basically you're going to loose 45% of it to taxes either now or you'll need to pay it over the course of 2010 for the taxes you do in 2011.

that is a pretty decent package. I worked for Ingram Micro for almost 13 years. My package was 27 weeks. But that included 6 weeks of pto (time off sick leave) I had built up. They gave us 2 weeks, then 1 week for every year we worked, then 7 weeks for me staying to to the end of my lay off date.

yeah, tara, you're getting a pretty decent deal. i only recieved two weeks and my vacation time paid back to me. and you do have quite a notice, i remember layoffs at a job i had a while back. they would let me know at 10 a.m. THAT DAY that i was going to be laid off for awhile. i would finish out my day pissed because they give you no chance to even prepair for something like that. i wish you the best of luck.

I loved American Gods. I thought it was a pretty cool take on what happens on all the gods people used to worship. If you are able I *highly* recommend Anansi Boys, also by Gaiman. However - you must get the book/cd on tape version. The voice actor who read the book was amazing and totally made the story. Seriously. Amazing. Made the story. I don't think I could read the book now and enjoy it near as much as I did him speaking.

I was in one job for 15.5 years and got 13 weeks severance, so yes, that is pretty sweet. Turns out I used it all up and then some because I didn't work for 6 months, but them's the breaks. Roll over now!!
