First Day

I made it to Dallas today, but the bottom dropped out and it rained hard between Hillsboro and Dallas. Thus, the trip was not as fast as usual and not much fun. I checked into my shops and found a check for $160 that I was unaware of, and in the other location my sales went from $16 to $420 in two days, which was also unexpected. So with my flea market money and unexpected sales run, I have close to a grand to buy stock with. I don't plan on spending that much, but I am looking for very specific things this time, and the unusual. Oddball stuff just sells well.

After Canton, I'm getting in the truck and following the hood ornament. School starts on the 20th, and given the fact I have little respect remaining for certain people in my "company", I will try extra hard to focus on the kids, and focus on the technique I call "surface living" when it comes to the people I have to deal with. After I retire, I plan to write a "State of the District" editorial and submit it to the paper. I am not seeking revenge, but the taxpayers need to hear what it is they are paying for. Teachers don't speak up as a rule, because of their nature, and because of the pressure put on those of us that speak out. Anyway, a road trip is needed for thought and prayer. Next week I'm taking another road trip to one of the only areas of Texas I haven't visited.

I presently have nine spaces in two cities, and I'm opening a tenth in August. I'm liquidating all my glass and pottery except the high end stuff and focusing on furniture and primitives. I should have started that process last year, but I'm a one-man band. It's a lot of hard work, and very time consuming. I'm also adding a line of homeade soap in Dallas and am looking for a person that has a candle making business so I can work those in by the golden quarter. If any of you know of someone that has a good product and trying to grow their business, let me know. We can help each other. I don't want to buy the market stuff everyone else has. I'm open to other item as well. Maybe one of you folks fit the bill. Stranger things have happened!

In closing, I read the following on a church marquee on the road today:

Satan has a plot, but God has a plan.
