RE4 is one of my all-time favorite games. So when the announcement was made that this game would be Wii-ized I was psyched. I bought it this week and have a few thoughts:
The IR aiming is excellent. However, I have to admit that the game overall seems easier because of it. But I am not sure if it is due to the aiming or the fact that this is the third time I've played through the game. The reticule is a tad too forgiving, I'd say. For instance, to shoot a crow only a sliver of the reticule need be over the crow. Everyone knows that, in the Gamecube version, crows were hard to shoot.
The knife can easily play a more prominant role in this edition if you want it to. In the Gamecube version I don't think that I used the knife for anything other than opening crates and boxes. However, with the new "quick knife" motion I find myself using the knife for attacks. The quick-kinife motion is one of the better "improvements" to this edition.
I am disappointed with the lack of initial difficulty settings. When you start the game for the first time you are forced into normal mode. Since this is the fourth iteration of this game you'd think that you'd be able to select expert right off the bat instead of having to finish the game first.
This is the best version of the game.
Manhunt 2
I really only have one thought on Manhunt 2: This is the best thing that could have happened to the developer. When the game finally does get released it will sell alot better than if there had been no controversy.
